The Interior Salish language is a group of closely related Salishan languages spoken by Indigenous peoples in the interior regions of the Pacific Northwest in North America. The Salishan language family, to which Interior Salish belongs, is characterized by its distinct linguistic features and is unrelated to other language families.

Interior Salish languages are traditionally spoken by various Salishan-speaking tribes, including the Colville, Spokane, Okanagan, and Flathead peoples, among others. These languages are characterized by complex phonetics, with a variety of consonants and vowels, as well as grammatical features such as verb prefixes and suffixes that convey important information about the subject, object, and other aspects of a sentence.

Like many Indigenous languages, Interior Salish languages have faced challenges, including a decline in the number of fluent speakers and potential endangerment. Efforts are being made by communities, linguists, and educators to revitalize and preserve these languages through language immersion programs, documentation, and other initiatives aimed at promoting intergenerational transmission and usage.
